Buddha

You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

Adventure Rabbi Bat Mitzvah - Boulder, CO

Day one of a 2 day shoot with the Adventure Rabbi to celebrate the bat mitzvah of Autumn who's family came in from TX. Rabbi Jamie Korngold

takes people on hikes into nature to celebrate spirituality through the outdoors outside of the walls of the temple. We took a hike to the Bluebell Shelter in Chautaqua and started the ceremonies there. They prayed, sang and made s'

mores in the firepit. What fun to hike and photograph and join in community to mark this moment for a bat mitvah. Shoot continues tomorrow...

Christmas Visit

A lovely visit to Waterford, CT to see my friend Mrs. K at her house on the beach. Crystal clear day on the coast, walking down memory lane, quite literally. I worked at this estate years ago and my photo is still on the wall in the old greenhouse, filled with blooming hibiscus flowers. This is where Frank worked for

67 years!! He passed away a few weeks ago and is sorely missed.

Dharma Mittra Headstand

An amazing yogi I have just learned about. He photographed himself doing 608 yoga postures and made a book of it. He has been teaching daily in NYC since 1967 at the Dharma Mittra Yoga Center

. I simply love this photograph-I am not sure if he took it himself, but I am thinking he did. Amazing and inspiring.

Paperwhites

The paperwhite narcissus is the December birth flower. Legend states that after Narcissus died, Apollo turned him into the flower narcissus. Paperwhites are grown from bulbs and are native to the Mediterranean.

The paperwhite narcissus is a cousin to the daffodil flower. This flower is easy to force bloom indoors. The strong scent is either loved or hated. The paperwhite is the only narcissus variety that does not require a cold and dark period to bloom. The paperwhite is the most popular variety of narcissus. This flower means that the recipient of the paperwhites is sweet.

Frank Francisconi-Rest in Peace

Another dear octogenarian friend passed away today. Frank Francisconi- a sweet Italian, WW II vet who was very proud of that! He was my garden friend from CT where I lived many years ago. We worked together for years at an amazing estate on the ocean in Waterford, CT. cutting back roses, deadheading, and eating tomatoes out of the garden; biting into them just like an apple. He took care of their glass, historical greenhouse and grew spectacular hibiscus all winter long. He worked for the same family gardening for over 65 years. His simple ways and deep appreciation for flowers and big bright blooms will surely be missed by many. He was dear to me and I am grateful for this photo taken on a recent summer visit.

Giving Thanks

Wow...I came out of my studio tonight to this view and dusky moment in lower Chautaqua and it nearly took my breath away. I have deep appreciation

for the many things that have come together to have me land in this exquisite place to live and work. It is an amazing gift each and every day and I give thanks!!

Paying Attention

In the end
you won’t be known
for the things you did
or what you built,
or what you said.

You won’t even be known
for the love given
or the hearts saved,

because in the end you won’t be known.

You won’t be asked, by a vast creator full of light:
What did you do to be known?

You will be asked: Did you know it,
this place, this journey?

What there is to know can’t be written.
Something between crispness of air
And glint in her eye
And texture of the orange peel.

What you’ll want a thousand years from now is this:
A memory that beats like a heart—

You are here to pay attention. That is enough.
